Our Process
Comprehensive Instruction
The way to achieve a top percentile score on the GRE is through a combination of proper instruction and practicing on the right questions. Tricks, tips, and shortcuts will ultimately fall short on tougher questions, as the GRE is designed to minimize their effectiveness at higher levels.
Expert Techniques
Our GRE tutors provide expert instruction, incorporating many techniques we have internally developed to handle GRE question archetypes. We teach you the full math behind the GRE, enabling you not only to achieve a top score but also to apply this knowledge beyond the exam.
Focused Practice
Proper instruction is only half the battle. The other essential component is practicing on the right problems to inculcate concepts to memory. We have a comprehensive GRE question and answer databank containing thousands of questions. From this, we create customized problem sets tailored by question type and difficulty to pinpoint specific areas.
Proven Results
You will be surprised at how quickly you improve. Learn our techniques and practice with our problems, and you will become confident and fully equipped to beat the GRE. It's that simple.

What Our Students Say
“He teaches us all the tricks! Highly recommend Bob for anyone looking to take the GMAT. He is very flexible based on your needs and is willing to dedicate time to certain sections based on your comfort level with the subject matter. Such a kind person, it is a joy to come to his home every week!”
“I decided to get my MBA about a month ago, and I was lucky enough to find Bob to help me with the preparation. Prior to meeting Bob, I had very low confidence in my math abilities. I even prefaced our first session by telling him how horrible I was! Bob is the most patient, intelligent, and kind person. Not only is he the best tutor in ANY subject I’ve ever had, but he also makes you feel so comfortable and at home in his office. He connects with you beyond his tutoring sessions, and gets to know you as a person. This is especially helpful because he learns your personal learning style, and presents the info in a unique way to you. Not every student is the same, and he gets it! If you are serious about getting into an Ivy League school, do yourself a big favor and call Bob!”
“Bob is a great tutor! He gives me so many practice problems and really walks through the problems thoroughly during the sessions. He is flexible and always finds time to fit me in and answers my questions. I highly recommend Bob.”

Frequently Asked Questions
In the sessions, you and your tutor will work through a series of problem sets together. These problem sets are specifically designed to test particular areas of the GRE. Together you will go through each of the problems in these sets, and your tutor will show you our techniques and strategies along the way. We will not waste time working on areas you are already proficient in. If we see you already have mastery of a subject or area, we will move on to the next one. We structure our sessions like this because we find it is best to learn by doing. You are much more likely to remember what we teach you when you see it applied. We note which problems and areas challenge you and assign homework, and we will periodically test you on those concepts in the future to ensure they become your strengths. We assign plenty of homework, which is essential to mastering what we go through.
We have problem sets for every possible topic and question level of the GRE. The order in which we go through different subjects is based on how heavily the GRE weights a topic and what score you are targeting. Our goal is to get you the score you want as quickly as possible. Therefore, we will focus on the areas with the most point potential before moving on to others. We also structure our sessions based on where we think you can benefit the most. As you complete the core math areas of the GRE, we will start escalating the question and topic complexity.
Periodically, we will provide you with practice GRE exams to gauge how far along you are and to show you the progress you are making.
Post-COVID, over 90% of our sessions with students are online. Many students prefer this option because it eliminates commuting and makes scheduling easier. However, we also have an office near Herald Square, and in-person sessions are available for those who prefer to meet face-to-face.
All tutoring sessions are 2 hours long. We require this because, frankly, 1 hour is not enough to cover the depth and breadth of the GRE material. Around the 1-hour mark is when you will be deeply immersed in the material and getting the most out of our lessons. The 2-hour structure also helps build your endurance, which you will need for the actual GRE exam.
Yes. Many of our former students have taken GRE prep courses or tutoring lessons with other companies or tutors before coming to work with us. It is not uncommon for other test prep services to only take you to a certain level before you hit a plateau.
If you want a top score on the GRE, there is no substitute for learning and mastering the math. That’s what we teach. The key to breaking into the highest percentiles on the GRE quant section is the quality of problems you practice on. We have dozens of problem sets dedicated to the toughest GRE questions and categories tested. Learn our methods and practice on our questions, and you will achieve the score you need.
The frequency of our sessions depends on your starting point and the score you are targeting. On average, we meet with most of our students twice a week. However, we encourage you to reach out so we can discuss and create a personalized plan that fits your goals.
Yes. Even if you haven’t touched math since high school or perceive yourself as “bad at math,” we can help. It might take some extra time, but with effort and perseverance, you will come to master math. We can guide you through the very foundations of math and re-teach you all the concepts at a pace that works for you.
Our goal is to help you improve as quickly as possible. The speed and magnitude of your improvement depend on a few factors: 1) your starting point, 2) how often you meet with your tutor, and 3) the effort you put in. Generally, within 1-3 months of working regularly with us, you will see a significant improvement regardless of your starting point.
Starting Point: Our students begin at different levels. Some are already scoring in the low 160s when they start, while others haven’t touched math since high school. Naturally, if you are already scoring in the 160s on the GRE quant section, there is only so much room for growth, and the difficulty of gaining each additional point is much higher than if you were starting in the 150s or lower. Conversely, if you start in the low 150s, you will see rapid improvement, but the speed of progress will diminish as the questions get harder.
Frequency of Sessions: Your rate of improvement will largely depend on how often we meet. We will teach you critical concepts and techniques to help you grow quickly. Additionally, we will assign homework to help you master these concepts. The more we meet, the faster you will improve. That said, you should see visible improvement within a month of regular meetings.
Effort and Engagement: Successful GRE prep is a two-way street. We will teach you all the necessary concepts, but you need to put in the effort to make the most of them. This means creating flashcards for formulas and common problem archetypes, studying them, completing the homework we assign, and being actively engaged in our sessions.
